Supprting Norfolk and Norwich Scope Association
Ian recently visited the Norfolk and Norwich Scope Association (NANSA) Family Centre to see the award winning organisation Feldgelings on their annual visit to Norwich.
Fledglings is a local voluntary service based in Saffron Walden which provides parents of children with disabilities and interested professionals with the opportunity to meet and look at the wide range of disability related equipment and toys that are available. The organisation now supplies information and products to more than 2,00 families and organisations and works with more than 300 companies.
As well as meeting the organisation’s founder Ruth Lingrad, Dr Gibson also met the Norfolk and Norwich Scope Association staff and chatted to parents about pre-school services and disability related issues.
He said “It was brilliant. There are times in life when you are impressed by people. The dedication and the work they are doing with families who need help is world class. I knew little about this part of my constituency and visiting the Norfolk and Norwich Scope Association and Fledglings opened my eyes to the magnificent work they do. Hopefully we will get more money and resources to them.”
Dr Gibson’s hosts were the Norfolk and Norwich Scope Association who are a local voluntary organisation which offers support for Norfolk people with cerebral palsy and associated disabilities. It offers a range of services for children with disabilities and their families, including School for Parents (a pre-school skills development initiative), Early Years Big Ideas (pre-school learning sessions) and FIND News (a free regular newsletter). Joy Bishop of the Association said: “Ian was very nice indeed. It was a very successful event. We had over 43 families attend who were able to get lots of valuable info and catch up with each other.
