Football Festival

The first of this year’s two Festivals kicked off at Thorpe St Andrew School on Sunday 20 May where over 170 players, coaches, managers and parents took part in workshops, mini soccer matches and coaching sessions in a fun packed and interactive day.

16 FA Charter Standard Clubs attended the event where the players were overseen by a team of 15 qualified coaches on the new 3G pitch whilst their mangers, parents and coaches attended workshops hosted by full time members of staff from the Norfolk County FA Football Development team. The interactive sessions covered player development practical and theory, parent participation and laws of the game understanding.

Norfolk County FA worked in partnership on the event with the Eastern Daily Press who provided support throughout the day as well as providing the Festival t-shirts for every player, coach and manager. The EDP also provided bulging goody bags for every player who attended the festival.

Further support was on offer from McDonalds who are an FA Community partner and they provided a member of staff to support the event as well as kindly provided fruit bags and water to add to the already bursting gifts from the team at the EDP.

Norfolk County FA’s Football Development Officer Darren Moss who coordinated the event said, ‘The day was all about learning and trying something new. The children where encouraged to ask questions and try new positions during the mini soccer matches, they also had the opportunity to set the team line up to encourage their learning and understanding’.

‘To be able to affect players, parents, coaches and managers in one day is a great achievement and testament to the partners and staff who contributed to a hugely successful day’. The event was rounded up with a presentation of goody bags and equipment to the clubs and was attended by Norfolk County FA Chairman Stuart Dracup, Dr Ian Gibson MP and Norfolk County FA Chief Executive Shaun Turner.
