The Financial Cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan
The government has never given comprehensive figures of the cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan despite parliamentary questions from Ian and many other MPs. MPs are usually referred to end of year MOD reports which are hefty documents and contain figures which need to be extracted and analysed in order to give an idea of the costs of the wars. Ian was involved in discussion on this subject with William Mathews of the University of East Anglia History School. Mr Matthews decided to take on this task and the result is his paper:
PARLIAMENTARY RUBBER-STAMPING: THE MILITARY COSTS OF
WAR IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN, 2001-2007
For the first time the military financial costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are exposed and available for public debate. Ian would like to register his great thanks to William Mathews for the work he put in to this huge and important task
